Hey fellow Grandad – I went through the same process and was ripped by the kids because Rubi had a hard time saying my name. For a long while I was Dadad, and that was ok. Rubi and I enjoyed the times we had together practicing my name. She now knows its her job to teach my name to her little sister Olivia.
The way I see it, I want to be at my grandkids weddings, and I want a grand name on that day.
btw, love the idea of the blog

Nicely said, Don. Grandparents can play a significant role in a child’s upbringing. These days, there are states or countries between relatives and it takes effort. Glad you are there for your family. oh, and really, you need to cut way down on the soda pop. 🙂 As much as i love your red truck…first thought was – he’s naming his truck Grand Dad? 🙂

Congrats Don. I’m still waiting to be Nana D. But enjoying seeing my daughter happily married. Yes, the 50s are caring for aging parents while still helping your kids with life. But as you near 60, the “heavy lifting” years tend to melt away. Life is full of seasons!
